Farmers Blenheim

This negotiated project involved the structural upgrade of a building that was originally built circa 1910.

The original building was masonry & steel construction which had been highlighted to the client to be weak in torsion/twisting strength and was effectively rebuilt form the inside out with all new structural steel framing, portals & concrete shear walls.

The challenge

The project was made more difficult by the fact that the tenant, Farmers Trading Co occupied the building throughout the whole project. This meant that the works had to be staged around their requirements for retail trade.

Many factors came into play with having such a difficult build project in a live retail zone, such as Health & Safety, Programme duration & time frames and practicalities of life on site co-existing together.

How we made a difference

The project was completed within the allowed project programme and this was due to good team work from Q Construction and its sub-contractors and also a good client/consultant relationship.
